Mission & Vision

The Mission

The Mission

Legacy Church is leading people in a growing relationship with Jesus

We believe the mission of every Christian church is the same and unchanging -  it is embodying two statements in the Bible known as the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Here at Legacy Church, we summarize these instructions as "leading people in a growing relationship with Jesus". These statements instruct us to love people as ourselves and to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Great Commandment); and that no matter where we are in the world, we are to tell people about Jesus and teach how to follow Him (Great Commission).

Vision

Vision

5,000 in 10 Years

#5kin10

Our audacious vision: transform the lives of 5,000 people in 10 years!

This kind of vision determines many priorities for us including church programming, leadership structure, priorities on evangelism and discipleship (relying on everyday, normal Christians to lead people to Jesus and teach them how to follow Him), financial stewardship, and launching new churches (not just Legacy!). We believe this vision is not only directed by God, but it will propel us toward a preferred future where we are continually leading people in a growing relationship with God.

Strategy

Strategy

We have a five part strategy to achieve the vision. These activities will be our pillars for building a healthy church and for leading people in a growing relationship with Jesus: Experiencing God, Making God Known, Developing People, Launching Churches, and Serving the City.

Experiencing God

We create environments where people can experience God's presence and respond to the gospel's call of salvation and transformation. This includes a corporate worship style marked by celebration, energy, reverence, Biblical integrity, and prayer.

Making God Known

We make every effort to be as simple and creative as possible to tell people about Jesus and invite them into the life of God. Special attention will be given to encouraging and equipping people to share the good news on a personal level, as well as sustaining an invitational culture for event based evangelistic efforts.

Developing People

We provide people the opportunity to develop skills and traits to become mature followers of Jesus who are marked by faith, obedience to God, Bible knowledge and engagement, prayer, worship, generosity, serving people, and sharing the good news of Jesus.

Launching Churches

Launching new churches is one of the most effective methods to sharing the good news of Jesus. From the very beginning we will set a course to be a church that launches new churches. Multiplication will be part of who we are and what we do. Our goal is to launch a minimum of one church every three years. A church planter residency program will be developed to recruit, train, and support men and women to launch churches in the communities that God is calling them.

Serving the City

We partner with and work alongside the city of Anchorage and non-profit organizations (including churches) to meet the needs of its citizens. This means providing volunteers for city-operated events, creating new ministry where none exists, assisting current non-profit organizations with their efforts, and collaborating with other churches to serve the city. We will build bridges of cooperation in order to display the heart of God to our city by serving people in need.
